of HSV, neither 1 nor 2. If I eat a girl out (aka cunnilingus) and she has HSV-2, I'm aware that I can catch HSV-2 in my mouth. What I'm wondering is, if I caught HSV-2 from eating a girl out, could it affect my genitals too? Or would it just affect my mouth?
HSV-2 is rare orally. Yes it can happen but it isn't likely to happen. Best way to put it without a whole lot of explaining is that HSV-2 doesn't like the oral location.
The virus doesn't travel in the body. You aren't likely to spread it to another body part. The way the virus is transmitted is skin to skin contact and then heat
and friction at that point. Now there is autoinoculation which is where you transmit the virus to another body part. That typically happens only during the inital outbreak (when your body has no immune response to fight the infection).
