HSV IGM

I have a question, they say that the IGM test is not good and has a high rate for "false positives" but has anyone ever came incounter with a false positive?

we have loads of posters here who have + igm and then follow up negative igg's. Studies show it's falsely positive 1/3 of the time on average.

IM SORRY I MEAN, then retest at 3-6 months then both IGG and IGM negative?

The IgG type specific blood test should be done 3 months post encounter. If you're not basing your testing on a specific encounter, then anytime is fine.

yes that is exactly what I was commenting as to - + igm found to be falsely positive on follow up.

ok thank you.... I just always see the post about it, but ive never actually heard anyone on the post say that months down the line they came back negative for both

I'm one of those people! I just got my follow-up results and double-checked with Grace.

Initial positive IgM...16 weeks later...Negative IgG.

It DOES happen.

wow... i  mean i some what believed it but you know its just hard to believe when no on ver talks about their follow up I so happy for you. SO happy FOR YOU!
