HSV II Test results

by Lillith36, Jul 23, 2008 04:40PM
I recently asked for STD tests as I wanted to further a relationship to the next level and wanted to make sure I was safe.  A week ago I tested positive for HSV II.  I have never had any symptoms I'm aware of and my last sexual contact was 3 yrs ago.  I took the Herpes Select Type specific AB test and the lab said it was an igg test.  My value came back at 3.78.  My question is should I have these results confirmed by a Western Blot since I have never had any symptoms or just assume its accurate and I have it.  Thank you for your time and attention.  I'm so confused by all the info. on the net and my doctor honestly does not know that much about herpes and seems defensive about my questions.

3.78 is high enough that you probably have it, but if you want to double check - and that's certainly your choice - you should test again.
