If you do have HSV 1 infection, it could be oral or genital, there is no way to know for certain unless you get a swabbable symptom in either location. You can get a western blot for herpes through Quest labs, they will send it to the University of Washington.

Sorry for all the responses here but how common is HSV-1 on the genitals? and the above test results i forgot to put < .9 is considered negative?
HSV 1 IGG, HERPESELECT TYPE
0.89 index TP
Index Interpretation
1.10 Positive
This is what was shown on my results. Kinda confused on these results.
How can I arrange to get that? Can I get the forms through you and go to a testing clinic such as Quest? Should I go to a Planned Parenthood and ask for a western blot? Thanks.
I agree that your HSV 1 is a little high for a negative. I think I would advise a western blot for you, to get clearer on your HSV 1 status. If you are HSV 1 positive, it certainly doesn't mean that your HSV 1 infection is genital. Can you arrange to get a western blot? Let me know how I can help.
