I know it is recommended to wait 3-4 months to get tested (time for antibodies to build) after first signs of what one thinks might be Herpes...assuming you are positive, is there any evidence to suggest what % will show a positive test, say within one month, 2 months, 3 months upon first signs. In other words, how long does in normally take for the antibodies to be detected?
Aout 1/2 of folks will test + within 2-3 weeks of being infected. We recommend waiting 4 months because then the vast majority of folks will accurately test so that you can just test once and be done with it. You can believe a negative at 4 months, you can't believe a negative at 4 weeks.
