HSV1 Positive

I shocked to learn that my test resuts was positive for HSV1 (negative for HSV2).  I have had canker sores throughout my life but nothing out of the norm....at least I thought.  I took the test because I've been having discomfort in my groin, mostly the feeling of inflamed lymph nodes and soreness.  

My test results for HSV 1 was over 5.0.  HSV2 came back <.91 Negative.   Does this mean I aquired it recently or has it remained dormant for all my life?

Also, can HSV 1 be acquired at a massage parlor (no sexual intercourse) but mutual touching at times?

Follow-up

Seems like HSV1 may have been with me for a long time.  Probably as a child/teenager.  

My best recommendation for people concerned about STD or other symptoms see your doctor.  I've visited my Urologist and any STD is ruled out.  I just have to stop reading these post and not worry about these issues.  Let my doctor and Urologist be the experts and follow their guidance.

http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm  is a terrific link for more info on hsv1 orally.  Odds are your hsv1 is oral and you will never figure out if you contracted it when you were 2, 12, or 20.  Most adults have it.

No, you won't get hsv1 from a massage.
