The symptom your mentioning , tingling, would be considered prodrome from an old infection and most outbreaks occur in the same spot, give or take an inch. Since the virus resides in the base of your spine, there may be some connection. The tingling is the virus traveling up the nerve. If the tingling last more than a few days without a sore developing, it really would not be consistent with herpes. You might take the herpes test 3 months post exposure to see your hsv2 status.

Hi, how were you diagnosed with genital hsv1. Yes primary outbreaks often are on both sides and non primary most often on one side.
