HSV1 infected

Hi,

I managed to contract HSV 1 and am under treatment with valciclovir. Im just wondering about the isolation methods, do i have to reverse isolate myself from my family? I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old in the house. My wife is also wondering if I need to sleep in a different room until the infection goes away.

Sorry for posting this on the forums but I forgot to ask my doctor when I saw her.

Any input would  be great!

is your hsv1 oral or genital?
you absolutely do not need to sleep in a different room regardless of where it is. You also do not need any isolation from others!

Hi Grace!

Its an oral infection. I dont even know how I got it. The medicine seems to be working and the sore has dried up considerably. Doctor prescribed the meds for until tomorrow.
