HSV1 question

by impulsive27, Sep 13, 2009 07:01PM
So i just found out I am oral HSV1+. I had my first test ever and had a value of 5.35. The first time i have had a cold sore was when I was young about 15 years ago and rarely ever get them maybe once every 3 years. I wanted to ask if i kissed/made out with my girlfriend every single day 365 days a year to various degrees and she is HSV1 negative (per test), is it essentially guaranteed that she will catch it from me? Even if i show no signs of a cold sore whatsoever? I have read alot about viral shedding but it is still so confusing. Also does the value I received mean anything? Does that mean there is more or less virus in me per that number? Also as i get older am i less likely to transmit to anyone else?

Thank you in advance for the help...

No it is not guranteed that she will get if from you...especially if you not kissing her while you have a cold sore....I don't believe the value means much beyond being positive.....I' not sure if the older you get means the less likely you will transmit the virus....
