HSV1 transmission

I was diagnosed with HSV1 in July. I'm now in a relationship and I don't want to transmit HSV1 to him. Would kissing him and giving him oral sex with out outbreaks give him HSV1? I just started talking valtrex  a week ago. I'm soo stressed. Please help.

Has he been tested to know his own herpes status? That's the first thing to do - and, you both need to know your HSV2 status as well.

As to oral herpes, about 60% of the adult population has it; it's incredibly common. Yes of course you could potentially transmit it to him by kissing or oral sex; if he doesn't have HSV1, then consider condoms for oral sex, and avoid kissing/oral sex if you have an outbreak.
