HSV2 - Transmition and Doubt

I had an exposure to someone who could had the Herpes...

I went to a doctor because some red dots. Pain and blisters appeared on my penis..

He told me that it looked like herpes.. But i had to get checked on the lab..
I went and got negative to all.. Appeared to be Chlamydia..

Ok.. That was on July 2007 and on april 2008 I had urge to go pee a lot.. went to the dr.. and they checked if i still had the chlamida.. They did culture.. And nothing...

Ok on Sunday November 2009... I had a back pain.. and next day my penis hurt a little bit.. I was with my gf for that weekend.. We had intercourse with some new condoms.. ones with small balls to stimulate more... Ok
Then as i am very nervous guy i started to think it was that i had herpes and the test back then were false negative.. I searched for blisters.. on my penis.. and saw something but as we all know if you dig and dig to find something you are going to find... But i was something that i could not defined.. even with a magnifying glass..
I went crazy begin bathing with warm water.. blow dry it;..Now is wednesday and i dont see nothing on my penis yet.. I dont know if i had a small outbreak or what...

The thing is that my gf told me that she was feeling something wrong in her vagina.. She feels pain and Like it burns.. It comes and goes…  She thinks it was the new condoms.. Im afraid that i spread the herpes to her.. Even if i don't really now if i have..

But its too coincidence.. I really don’t know how to think! Scared Here!

What do you think???

If the test came negative.. on april.. why is that???..

Does the test shows that you are positive ONLy when the outbreaks is out???..
Or it should appear positive always even if you have no outbreak???

I am sorry to hear that you are going through this. I too am going through a bit of a scare. I did the iGG test at 12 weeks and it came back negative. The thing is, the only way to be 100% sure you don't have herpes is to wait 6 months after either last sexual encounter or the first sign of symptoms to do a blood test if the swab test came back negative. Otherwise you might get either a false positive or false negative test. Also, condoms are only 30% effective when it comes to HSV2. The reason is because you can have it on your skin in other areas not protected by the condom and pass it to her skin which has no protection on it. Make sure you get a test that is reputable. I have heard the iGM is not good. Google herpes handbook. Good luck to you! I hope we both don't have it.

By the way, you don't need to be going through an outbreak for the blood test. If you test negative through the blood test and enough time has passed, it can be something else and you should go back to your doctor with the negative herpes test results. They should look into running other tests.

She is going to have to go to the doctor as well, unfortunately. Calm down. If you haven't explained to her what has been going on with your health by now, it's probably a good idea to tell her now even if it is a bit too late for the discussion.

I thought you only had to wait 16 weeks after possible exposure in order for an igg blood test to be definitive?

16 weeks: 80% will show antibodies.
6 months: 99.9% will show antibodies.

Noticed I said to be 100% sure wait 6 months in my post. I should have said 99.9% sure though huh ;)

OK but i felt the pain on the penis and saw some kind of blister...
Why the negative test!!!! I got a .59 HSV... From .89 Up is Positive..
Could this be that IM POSITVE.?? But those were low positive??

I don't know why .59 if i don't have..Is this because i have it mild???...
I don't understand those numbers and they supposed to have numbers if positive and 0 if negative.. Really don't understand.

My back still hurts alot!!! Many says that lower back pain is pre-outbreak.. But ive been with back pain for almost a week now!!! And i havent seen any outbreak. any blister. and now i have no pain on penis.. Maybe just to think of it 1000 times a day.. and then i feel something!!!

My GF said that she feels burning and pain that comes and goes!!

Dont know what to think!!! I Keep checking and keep checking and i don't see any outbreak.
Does this takes more than a week to appear. after symptoms??

Back pain is painful.. But manageable... I think this could be related because last week felt little pain on penis then on Friday came the back pain and then felt on the weekend some pain discomfort on then the penis mild pain.. Then i began searching and searching found some kind of mark on mi penis and then my gf told me on Sunday that she felt burning and a lot of pain.

This is too coincidence!!!!

You and your gf both need to go and be seen and get proper exams done.  Do not have sex again until you have both done this.

Your herpes testing was done way too early into things it appears. I recommend you get retested for herpes as well as get a full std screening done too. your gf needs the same.

Too early???? Got tested for the ALL THE STD's on April 2008..
All came negative, expect chlamydia.. Got treated and on August 2008 got tested again for Chlamydia and was Negative on 48hr culture.

My suspected exposed was on July 2007.
So that's 9 months later!!! is that to early for tests????

On 2007 was the suspected exposure.. 3 weeks later some blisters and pain on my penis... I got tested for HSV2 and came all negative.. But as we all know thats too soon to have positive results.. The doctor told me that was genital herpes.. And put me on valtrex and a cream for the blisters... 9months after that I felt urge to urinate.. No blisters or nothing.. And the HSV2 came .59.. That was on april 2008.. And 1 week ago i started with a back pain.. Penis hurted and i see some red spots on penis but almost not visible.. Could this be that the Tests were False NEgative??... Could this means that I HAVE HSV2?? But the tests were Negative!! I'm confused!! Then my GF had some pain and burning sensation...

Tomorrow Im gonna go get some tests.. But I dont know if thats the right chice..
Please tell me what you think!!! Im gonna go anyway to get the labs done!! But I want to know your opinion!!!

thank you for clarifying those testing dates for me. I did not get that your repeated your herpes blood test too 9 months post encounter.


go and be seen. it's not likely it's herpes going on based on your symptoms. if it is, it's not from the encounter you suspect at least.

Hi Grace..

Got the Labs Results Today.. I did the Herpes 1 & 2 and they said the following

HSV I  .30
HSV 2  .31

Does this mean that I have it?  Someone told me that it should be 0 if you don't have?
I dont know what this means.. Im scared here...

What does the .30 means.. I have it but mild or something?
Last time i had the labs it was .59 and now is lower (last time was April 2008).. Dont Know what this means..

Do I have to wait until an Outbreak to get tested.. So that could the blood could detect the Virus?

By the way my girlfriend had the burning and pain for 3 days.. No signs of blisters / discharge / blisters nothing... Maybe it was the condoms..

I really don't know and i've been days without sleeping.. And now i have the results back and dont know what to do...

PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! Im scared of my results and don't know why there's numbers (.31)!! Is this cause I have it???

Your test shows you are negative for both HSV1 and HSV2. Anything below a .90 is negative. Varying numbers mean nothing, and a 0 is never a value from testing with an IgG blood test.
