HSV2 Oral in 4 year old

Hi there, I'm new.  I have HSV2 first contracted orally 20 years ago but now recurs mainly genitally but sometimes orally as small lumps on my tongue and the odd cold sore.  Never been tested so maybe I have HSV1 too.   I'm really scared I have passed it on to my 4 year old son as he has had a very sore tongue initially with yellowish bumps but now red and white patches and what look like cracks.  He had a fever the first night and now just seems under the weather with a cough and cold.  The tongue symptoms seem similar to my first episode but milder....No blisters on lips or anywhere else in his mouth.

Could I have passed this on to him by sharing cups, kissing etc? I've always been careful when having outbreaks but wondering about viral shedding.  Won't be able to see a doctor for a few days and can't stop beating myself up about it! Have been googling like mad to try and find other causes....geographic tongue? Anyway, hopefully someone out there can offer some advice, this seems like a very helpful community. Thank you.

Hi, first of all, you need to be tested for hsv1 otherwise we are only speculating. You have hsv2 is highly unlkely and i would not even consider it at this point. Those that contact it in both areas did so at the same time other wise those with one type would be basicly immune to contracting the same in another area.
First time herpes out breaks would be at point of contact so if you feel you have passed it to your child, the outbreaks would have been on themouth not inside. Herpes sores are not yellowish that turn red but are clear liquid filled.
Since your child is having an issue i do suggest seeing a doc but for your concern that you have giving him oral herpes it would not in the least appear as so.
