HSV2 Positive Couple

Two HSV 2 positive people (one transferred infection to the other) - diagnosed via blood test more than 8-9 months ago. I am Asymptomatic and have never had a recognized outbreak.  My partner has had 2-3 outbreaks (that is how we came to get tested.)
The question:  My partner's latest outbreak is a few inches from the original site - did I reinfect my partner in a new spot?  Did he spread the infection to the new spot  himself by touching an infected area?

Hi also. Outbreaks can occur any where in the sacrum ganglia which is anywhere below the waist. He was not reinfected as he has it in that area already.
