HSV2 blood test

Called the Doctor  For my results and she said it came back negative for HSV2. Okay makes sense I requested an HSV2 test. She also said I was negative for HSV1 which I didn't request. Just assumed I had HSV1 because 50% of the people do. My question is when testing for HSV2 is it normal to also  test for HSV1. Wondering if I misheard because I didn't request HSV1.

you should always get tested for both unless you already know you have hsv1. your doctor did the appropriate thing.
