HSV2 oral cold sores?

Hi,

I currently got diagnosed with HSV2 about a year ago but my HSV1 was negative.

I have never had any visible symptoms whatsoever.

Recently I've been with a new partner who is aware. We have had protected sex only. This morning I noticed a very small cold sore on the corner of my mouth. It does not have a whitehead but I'm scared it is going to get worse.

Although I came back negative for HSV1, I have definitely had cold sores on my mouth before throughout my life, but very rarely and never too bad.

My questions, I have researched and am finding mixed answers on this...

1. Can this cold sore be a symptom of my HSV2?
2. Can I give HSV2 to my partner from kissing with this cold sore?

Should I be worrying about this?

Thank you

odds are this isn't hsv2 orally you have.

has your gf ever been tested to know her own hsv status?

Thank you. Can a local clinic perform the swab test? Where can I have that done? Thanks again.

I don't remember, I just know I've had a cold sore here and there probably 3 times in my life and never serious.

This morning I woke up and its white now and very painful to touch but right on the edge of my lip but small. Last nite I told my girlfrienda bout it and she felt like she was getting a pimple on her mouth, but she gets pimples alot and didnt think twice about i.

Im kind of freaking out I gave here HSV2. Her pimple is on the exact opposite side of her mouth which would be where we touched when kissing.

Even the best blood tests can miss an HSV1 infection.

At what age did you start getting cold sores? Was it before becoming sexually active?

Don't assume it's HSV2 orally, only a swab/culture can tell you that. Next time you have a cold sore, be seen within 48 hours to have it cultured. The reason why it's most likely not oral HSV2, is that aside from a primary OB, HSV2 almost never recurs orally.
