HSV2 positive, but strange symptoms?

HSV2 positive, but strange symptoms?

2.5 months ago, I had some typical primary OB symptoms:  fever, flu-like symptoms, blisters (but oddly, on my beltline, just under my navel, not on my penis).  Dr took a swab, and the blisters tested positive for HSV2.

I took acyclovir, and the blisters healed in a few days and have not returned.

However, since that time my penis has continuously been very sensitive and sore, with some persistent red rashy areas.  I have been put on daily valtrex, but it does not seem to help.  In a few places, if you look carefully, the skin seems red and mottled, and there are a few faint hairline and circular depressions in the skin.  In addition, there are a dozen or so small and faint red/purple spots/bumps on the underside of the glans (glands), and around the rim of the crown. However no blisters...

I think I have experienced prodrome symptoms a couple times since the beginning (i.e. ache at the small of the back).

Can anyone help me understand what is going on?  Is this still from the primary outbreak?  Is the skin just taking a long time to heal for some reason?  Should I be concerned that I have some other sort of infection besides HSV2 (bacterial, fungal etc)?

Maybe I should cut out the valtrex and just let me immune system develop a better response?  I am trying to be extremely healthy (meditate, exercise, lysine  and zinc supplements, cleaning my penis with rubbing alcohol etc).  However, I have found it difficult to cut out all sexual activity, and I still masturbate on an almost daily basis.  Could this be prolonging the rash symptoms indefinitely?

Thanks for any help or insight!!!
B.

odds are this isn't all hsv2 going on.  if your regular provider isn't able to figure out what is causing the rash on your penis, see a dermatologist.

lysine and zinc aren't effective for herpes.

STOP CLEANING YOUR PENIS WITH RUBBING ALCOHOL!!  You have probably dried it out and made things worse by doing so. the skin on our genitals is very sensitive and you should never use rubbing alcohol on it!!

valtrex doesn't affect your immune system. your immune system is working the same to combat herpes as it would be if you weren't taking valtrex. Valtrex just disrupts the viral replication system so that the virus can't replicate as much as it would normally. it still is active, just the valtrex keeps it from causing as much shedding and as many obvious lesions.
