Technically your hsv2 results are +. remind me - have you had symptoms? How long into things were you tested?
Your gf should get tested for hsv now to know her status.
Labcorp sometimes uses the herpes select. It's default blood test isn't the herpes select but it's not too bad. You can find out thru your clinic if they ordered the herpes select or their default herpes test.
If your gf tests negative for hsv2 - then I'd pursue additional confirmatory testing for your own hsv2 status. It's still low enough to be a false negative so it's worth following up on.
I'd get her tested now to see if she has hsv2 and never knew it and just recently transmitted it to you. If she tests negative then you know your result isn't from a newly acquired infection so you'll need testing to rule out if it's a false positive or not.
Just got back from the doctor and got tested with a BioKit. It came back negative. My doctor told me to come back in six months to verify and also told me to stop taking my Valtrex.
Hmmm, don't understand the no need to wait. Does that mean I should take some other test right now? Or does that mean no real need to test in six months?
I am pushing her to get tested with the Herpes Select through LabCorp, but I just finished telling her and she is resistant to getting tested. She feels there is no need as my test came back negative and I am the only person she has had sex with.
If this was a newly acquired infection for you - you wouldn't have to wait another 6 months to retest. You could do it again in another 2 or 3 months if your gf was hsv2+.
This is totally up to the 2 of you how to handle it. I'd feel pretty confident that yours was a false positive if you truly are your gf's first partner. Not that "virgins" don't get genital herpes - it's just a way lower risk of her having it before she met you. It's up to you 2.
