I agree with waringblender. it is not certain that you have HSV1 on your mouth. There are several possibilities:

a. You do not have herpes at all. It is a similar condition.
b. You have HSV2 on your mouth; he has HSV2 genitally. After a few weeks, you would have antibodies. It is not likely that you would reinfect each other
c. You have HSV1 on your mouth; he has HSV2 genitally. In this case, you could still infect each other.

The only way to figure this out is:

1. Get the next lesion cultured within 1-2 days
2. Have a type specific blood test in 3-4 months

Did you get the outbreak cultured? Was it actually a herpes sore? If you actually have HSV2 orally (unlikely), you can't pass it back to him since he already has it. The next time you have a lesion, get it cultured so you know what you are dealing with.

I just don't know what to do and I can't find any links about it. Do you know of any sites that relate to this? I am scared!

I had a blood test done in Jan. pf this year and it came back negative for hsv1 and 2. He has hsv2 and last week I have my first OB. I have never had a cold sore before and this was a small cluster on my lip. Can he get HSV2 orally now?

Are you sure that you have HSV2?

It would be very rare to be reinfected with HSV2. Especially after a few weeks.
