So you are saying you have herpes, but your symptoms are irritations all over instead of sores like people typically have?
Just an update, it's been 19 days for me now so I am outside of the window for my first outbreak, with no definitive symptoms, but am wondering if I could still have it but be asymptomatic. I know it's a waiting game still.
I did get a jock itch rash a couple days ago which caused a little bit of a concern, but I immediately put Zeasorb on it and it pretty much went away by the next day, so that was a relief. So far I am just thinking I got some kind of fungus/yeast infection from the encounter.
Thanks for everyone's feedback, I know there are a million threads just like this one and people probably get sick of hearing the same old dumb stories over and over. For me this whole experience has been very eye opening and I know I will never make the same mistake again, whether I caught something or not, it's definitely not worth the emotional roller coaster.
I have to say I am not typical but for me I have had skin irritations for over a year. Burning in the butt crack area and scrotum along with feeling like most of my body is sun burnt and tingling in other parts of my body - ALL of this for over a year.
People who test negative should always remember what it feels like to worry and think the worse. THEN get tested before sleeping with anyone new and stay monogamous.
Time to take my next pill. :-(
Hi again, if symptoms do occur it is usual 2 to 12 days. Tingling would not last that long and as mentioned is most often associated recurrent and also often with genital. Maybe you should test at the 4 to 6 week mark to rest your concerns but as also mentioned 70% of the adult population would test positive for hsv1 oral.
hey everyone, just to update, I am on my 10th day now and have not had any real signs of anything yet. I know it can take up to 3 weeks for the first outbreak to happen, but I read that it is most common to get the first signs in the first week, is that true in peoples experiences?
For almost a week now I have an occasional tingling or irritation feeling on my lip, but every time i look at it, it still looks perfectly normal (I am still wondering if it's just in my head). If it was prodome tingling, would it have really lasted this long or should it have turned into blisters by now? After reading some more I was wondering if it might just be oral thrush? Obviously I will talk to my doctor as soon as i have any visible signs.
Other then that I had a breif(~6 hours) sore throat on one side of my face one day, and I haven't felt any soreness near any of my lymph nodes pretty much since my last post.
Also this site (http://www.thestdproject.com/std-testing-windows-when-to-get-tested-stds/) says that Herpes will "most likely" show up in a blood test after 4-6 weeks, but I know you all were recommending 3 months. I know 3 months is to be really sure, but I was wondering if anyone here had false negatives after only 4-6 weeks?
thanks
First time infection can be a whole body experience as the immune system is building antibodies and setting up a defense. This could include body aches, swollen nodes and fever.
are you saying if it's a primary outbreak then both nodes are typically swollen? Also would the swelling come and go or should it be constant? because today it isn't really bothering me.
continued... but could be both sides as a symptom of a primary outbreak are swollen nodes.
One question I have is, if my lymph nodes were swollen would it always be on both sides or is it sometimes just on one side?
Thanks
. Most herpes virus is contracted through vaginal sex. By rubbing and grinding naked gentital areas like the public bone area. Also herpes can be in the vagina so it can get into the penis urethra, did you wash the inside of your penis?
If your pubic areas did not touch or if you grinded a few seconds and ran to the bathroom and washed then maybe there would be some effectiveness to the washing. But all this is just talk as bottom line you were put at risk and if you have a long term partner, i would suggest testing in 3 months.
I guess the washing theory is kind of a tough question, and obviously I have no idea, I'm just going by anything I read on the internet. This is interesting though, here is a medical study that says rubbing alcohol (very similar to what's in hand sanitizer) will inactive the virus in zero time:

Herpes is conclusive at 3 months. Regard to washing, did you wash off the herpes virus before it entered the nerve?
This isn't the original site I read it on, but it's saying basically the same thing:
"Wash thoroughly with soap and water after sex; virii aren't very strong. Soap and hot water kill and/or wash away the herpes virus if it hasn't already made it through a break in your skin."

yeah i am definitely going to get tested as soon as i can. Herpes, 3 months though? I read 4-6 weeks?
Hi, washing does not help as would be contracted during the intercourse. Unprotected sex is a risk for all std,s and you might consider some testing to help put this behind you.
Gono and chlamydia---1 week
herpes and HIV-----3 months
syphilis-----------6 weeks
HPV----------no test available for this.
