I have been with my boyfriend for 7 months. we have never experienced outbreaks of genital herpes before. He has recently had a cold sore above his lip. I did not recive oral sex from him, but we did have vaginal sex and he fingered me. I woke up the next day with sores on my labia and in my vagina. I went to my doctor to get swabs taken, butI have yet to recieve results. I am now on valtrex for 10 days. Am I now going to gt genital herpes flare ups forever??? And why does my partner only have a ccold sore and I have genital sores if it is from the same virus? im so scared!

at this point wait for your lesion culture results to come back. if they are negative then both of you need to go for type specific herpes igg blood testing to see if either of you have hsv2 and never realized it.

do you know if either of you have ever been tested for herpes before?
