Help! Genital herpes?!

I am very worried as I am just researching and realizing how contagious cold sores are. I am 26 and have gotten cold sores since I was a child. I recently had a cold sore for 4 or 5 days and it was more or less "dried up". I very briefly performed oral on my boyfriend for less than 30 seconds and I do not think the sore directly touched his penis. We then had unprotected sex. What are the chances that we BOTH get hsv1 on our genitals from my cold sore? I've read that I may have an immunity since I already have hsv1 orally. HELP!

you won't get your hsv1 back like that genitally.

has your partner ever been tested to know his own status? YOu can't make educated decisions about what precautions to take together until you know who has what.

is this a big risk for hsv1 genitally for him? No it is not.

Grace, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. And to answer you question - no, he has never been tested to know his status. We were both virgins and were each others "firsts." He says he has never had a cold sore that is why I was worried that he could have contracted genital herpes in this very brief encounter with my active OB since he may not have any antibodies against hsv1. I'm glad to hear you think both my boyfriend and I have nothing to worry about. You do a great thing of this forum, Grace. People like me are especially grateful because as worry warts we let the scary worst case scenarios we google get the best of us :)

1 out of every 3 people your age have hsv1 orally whether they are aware of it or not. Most don't get obvious cold sores to know that they are infected. Not a bad idea for him to get a hsv1 igg just to know his status for the future.  

as I said, low risk for him. should he develop any obvious genital symptoms in the next week or two, he should be seen promptly and let them know about the situation.

Hi Grace I'm back. So today is day 5 since the above sexual act took place. I know you said I have absolutely no reason to believe My own cold sore could infected my own genitals but I've been experiencing mild cramping in my pelvic region and have 100 fever. Am I stressing myself out so much I'm making these symptoms appear?!?!? Help!

whatever is going on, it's not hsv1. see your provider if you are concerned.
