Help-Small red bump on outer lip of vagina

I am a 19 year old female who has only had one "partner". I am stilla  virgin and my ex and I have never had sex..the only thing that had been performed had been him giving me oral. That was roughly 6 months ago. Yesterday, I woke up at around 5 in the morning to a weird sensation around my vagina. Upon furthur examination I found a large bump on the upper part of the outter lip of my vagina. I grew very worried and am still trying to figure out if it is something I should be concerned about.

The bump it self is not itchy, more so un comfortable. It is, bulbous I would say but not exactly a bump, it's more so still a part of my flesh...I guess they best way to describe it would be just a raised, fleshy area. It does not have a head on it and I have not been having any of the usual herpes symptoms (Headache, stomach cramps, etc.) I am experiencing discharge but I believe my period is about to begin soon.

I have never had any bumps, that I know of, on my vagina like this before. There is only one there. I know the best recommendation is to just go to the doctor but I just wanted to see if anyone else had a solution or thought as to what it might be.

You wouldn't be getting continuing burning sensations like this ongoing for this long if it was herpes! Herpes doesn't just hang around and burn or whatever it is doing to you. You should do yourself a favor and get an IGG Herpes Select Test done ASAP so you can free your mind up of this whole herpes thing!!!

Hello, I had originally posted this comment in December and had been extremely worried I had herpes. I got a culture and it came back negative but she said it was a bit too far gone to really diagnose. Since that time I have not gotten anymore bumps but have had burning pain in my anus and at times in my vagina. The lip that had the bump itches at times and if I sit for too long my anus and vagina begin to burn, especially if I have my legs crossed. I'm not myself anymore and I'm very withdrawn. I don't know if this could still be herpes or not, it has been 6 months that I've had these burning problems with no bumps or visible irritation. When I was tested earlier for herpes I also got tested for gon. and chla. but they came back negative. I recently got the over the counter test that vagiasil made that tests for vaginitis, yeast, and I forget the third...trich I believe. But it the test came out as normal. I have an appointment for a pap and another STD testing...just to be sure. But comments or suggestiong would be helpful, thank you

No, I do not shave. I guess what it is that scares me the most is that I have never gotten anything weird down there before so instantly I thought the worst. I had been sitting in the car for a long period of time but I have done that before and never gotten such a bump down there.

The blood that came out was after a shoer, it was the day my bump was extremely red looking and had gotten smaller. When I wiped it looked as if blood came out. The first time it popped and I saw stuff in my underwear I can't be sure if it was blod or not, it didn't look like blood, but I don't know.

I have finally got my doctor situation figured out and will be visiting a gyno as soon as I can get an appointment. My vagina still itches occasionally but now that my period has started the raw feeling has oddly enough been soothed some what.

I may still be paranoid about having herpes but now I seem to be having very tiny bumps popping up on my legs and two on my breasts. Normally I get, what I thought, was acne on my arms and thighs but now I'm scared and I'm not sure what to think.

I have no bumps on my vagina anymore but it still feels a little itchy and weird. I ended up talking to my ex and asking him about it. Not specifically herpes but if he had ever been tested and if I could have gotten something from him giving me oral. He said I had no need to worry, that he was clean. I can't help but still be scared.

I still haven't gone because of something silly I have to work out with mny insurance. The bump is completely gone it seems but my vagina now has a kind of raw feeling and itches every now and again. I guess I should be discussing this one in a different forum but now I feel like possibly it could be a yeast infection.

Thank you to everyone who answered my questions. I really, really appreciate it. I haven't been able to get in to see a doctor...the only openings have been later in the week so I am going then. Again, I appreciate all the speedy responses, thank you.

Personal question...Do you shave? It might just be an ingrown hair or a pimple or something from sweat or friction...Your best bet would be to go to the doctor. and if it was herpes there would be a cluster of them not just one bump for your first outbreak

Blood doesn't come out of herpes blisters. It's not herpes. You really should go and get it checked tomorrow because Thursday you are going to be describing something where tomorrow they can see it. She will tell you it is NOT herpes also. you'll see.

The bump has been here for about 5 days now but growing increasingly smaller. Yesterday when I checked it was very red but much, much smaller in size. Today when I checked it it had returned to its normal color and was barely a bump anymore, just a small scab is present now.

As I posted earlier, the bump had popped and it looked as if only blood had come from it, but I'm not sure if that was all. It itches only a little but all I am doing is thinking about it now so I may be over reacting at each touch...

I have an appointment with a gyno on Thursday but I'm extremely nervous and am trying to brace myself for the worst. I'm just not sure how to because if I find out it is herpes I just don't know what I'll do...I'm extremely nervous about it.

Thank you...I got a little more nervous about it last night upon further examination. It's a little hard to see because I do not shave, but it looks like a scab has formed on the bump and that the bump is located on my outter lip but closer to the seam of my vagina than I thought so I immediately began to freak out. I tried to remember exactly when the act had been performed and it had to at least be 5-4 months ago. I want to go to the doctor but I'm a little embarassed about it...I know it's better than worrying myself sick though. Guess I'm just trying to resaon with myself.

The bump still hurts, but not really when I sit. I've been touching my pubic area so much trying to see any change that I'm sure I must have irritated it.

Unless this kid had an overt cold sore present, I really doubt he gave you herpes. There are literally thousands of things that could have caused this bump but nothing you have said suggests herpes. Go see your Dr tomorrow and watchin him tell you the same thing.

Thanks for the post. That's comforting to hear but I'm still a little concerned. It hurts, just not as much as before...but I'm not having trouble with anything else. I've been looking all kinds of stuff up on the net and I'm getting ranges from 4 days up to a year for the first outbreak...I'm just freaking myself out now though. I'm going to see how it is tomorrow and perhaps go to planned parenthood if it doesn't improve.

More comments or thoughts are greatly appreciated by anyone.

doesn't sound like herpes. The time frame of getting symptoms were way too long.

Not that I remember, like I said...he had performed it roughly 6 months ago. I'm not as concerned now because the bump has decreased in size considerably and has stopped hurting as badly. To my knowledge I thought that herpes were to show up several days or weeks after performing the act...it has been months now. But I could be wrong.

I'm starting to wonder if perhaps it was just a bug bite, but thank you all the same.

Any more thoughts or comments by anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Does your ex get cold sores? You can get herpes on your genitals if you have oral sex performed on you by someone who has it on their mouth.
