Hereditary herpes
Can herpes such as cold sores and whatnot be passed on throughout a family? My mother has told me that cold sores are hereditary in the family. In addition, can a family have a certain gene that prevents them from getting herpes? I have a friend that claims any girlies with cold sores can come kiss him because his family is immune to them. How full of **** is he?

He's pretty full of it.

And cold sores aren't hereditary, but since they are contagious, its not surprising that many members of the same family would have them.

About 60% of adults in the US have hsv1, the virus that causes cold sores, so your family isn't alone.
