I recently had a HerpesSelect test with the following results:
Herpes Simplex Virus Type I IgG Test (HerpeSelect) <0.91 0.00-0.90 Negative 10/01/2010 10/02/2010
Herpes Simplex Virus Type II IgG Test (HerpeSelect) 1.52 0.00-0.90 Positive 10/01/2010 10/02/2010
I am in the process of trying to take another type of test but there is very little information about getting a confirmation test via another method in the Baltimore area. I have no signs whatsoever accept a small zit like bump that I had a doctor look at at Patient First. Immediately upon seeing it she said it WAS NOT herpes. It is now gone a little after a week of being there.
The anxiety from this test is driving me crazy I'm only had 4 sexual
I think the last time someone looked and posted about it, no one within a reasonable drive from your area offers the biokit. You'll need to get your provider to order you up a herpes WB blood test to confirm your status. You need to wait at least 4 months after the last time you had sex

Well that's a bit of help. Is it true as some have mentioned that my chances of a false positive are greatly reduced because I tested negative for HSV type 1? Which I completely don't understand I've had cold sores or ulcers in my mouth before. I've also had Chicken Pox and possibly shingles in the past...
It is absolutely ridiculous how difficult it is to get a confirmation test other than HerpeSelect. I'm gonna have to wait months for either a WB or Biokit. Completely useless, I feel as though I shouldn't have even gotten the original test as there is a good chance I have a false positive and now must live with this anxiety and fear
it's best to wait until 4 months post encounter and get the additional testing done then. I know it's hard to wait but it's the best you can do at this point.
quest does offer the herpes inhibition assay which is sometimes helpful with ruling out false positives but that too needs to wait until 4 months post encounter.
hmmm that test is new to me. Would you say it's as accurate as the biokit or WB at ruling out false positives? It appears this test is specifically for my scenario...
