Herpes, Acne or Folliculitis?

I have a question wondering if this is just over worrying or possible herpes outbreak. (Keep in mind i'm an athlete that works out for hours at a time in a gym or outside year round. I also have Fordyce spots on the underside of my penis and some on the side of my shaft).

Before becoming sexual active. I noticed i would get red spots on my pubic area with hairs in them. I also got these things in my chest and the back of my head in my hair. I lost my virginity Fall 2008 at age 18. The girl i had sex with was a high risk for an STD. We started having unprotected sex then after 5-10 mins, I stopped washed my penis off and then used a condom till we finished.

In the following weeks after this night I never experienced any illnesses or symptoms of a STD. I even asked her months after we stopped talking if she was tested (I was becoming paranoid about it). She said she got tested regularly 2 times a year since she was 16 (She was 20) and said she was clean of all STD's. Still don't know if I trust her honesty but she was willing to be open and talk about it.

Since then I've been in a serious monogamous relationship. My current girlfriend and I have had unprotected sex, she was a virgin at the time because I popped her cherry so this is understood. While i've been in this relationship i've also experienced boils under my penis shaft that had hair follicles, sebaceous cyst on my scrotum and acne on my shaft (always on the top sides the ones that i pop always have a hair follicle in them or a hard pus like that of a fordyce spot). Also alot of these things have left scars on my skin.

Also when these are popped they are red like acne, leave a small crater where the acne or puss was and take a few days to heal. I have never seen any clusters or basic symptoms of herpes, ulcers or  genital warts.

My current girlfriend has never had any symptoms of herpes, genital warts or acne on her genitals. She also got tested twice at separate times while at the doctors while getting her yearly check up. Her doctors check for STD's in her pap smear. She's been clean both times, also both times she was tested was at least 6 months after we had unprotected sex multiple times.

So after all this my question is does this sound like herpes or any other STD or a possible skin fungus like folliculitis? I dont break out or anything like herpes, i just get these acne spots or infected hair follicles every once in a while like acne on a someone's face. So please help me out with genuine posts and insight. Thanks alot.

Thank you. Just for my own sanity does this sound like herpes?

The red spot i have now, had a white head. When i popped it no liquid came out just the white stuff. No bleeding or sign of rash.

you want a type specific herpes igg blood test done. since you know you didn't get this from your current partner, it's ok to get tested at any point to see what your status is.

Thanks, i understand i need to be tested. I was just wondering if any of this sounds like herpes or if i'm just over worrying. And what specific test should i ask for hsv-2?

Some pap tests do test for stds but they don't test for hepatitis, herpes or hiv with them. Your gf was a virgin before she met you so no reason for her to be getting testing unless she wants to know her hsv1 status.

odds are you've never been tested for herpes before. it's not a part of routine std testing.  since you want to know your status, get tested to see what it is.

follow up on your symptoms with your provider to see what is going on. They could be many things and we'd only be guessing at this point.
