Herpes 2 reliability

Herpes 2 reliability

8 moths ago I was diagnosed with lichen planus, which the symptoms are gone by now. I decided to get tested for Herpes 2. When I received my results it indicated Igg 1.17, Is this test reliable or should I retest. Is it possible to be infected due to cracks in your skin or skin contact with blister since i work with a high risk population.

did you have a biopsy that confirmed lichens or just a visual diagnosis?

a hsv2 igg of 1.17 is technically positive. odds are it's a false positive though unless you've recently contracted the virus.  how long prior to your hsv2 testing did you last have sex?  Do you have a regular partner and if so, have they been tested yet to know their own herpes status?

My last sexual intercourse was about 3 months. I have a regular partner and she has not been tested since I just received my results over the phone and I have a follow up appointment with the doctor. I have never had any symptoms but since I have not been screened I suggested to the doctor to order it. I read that only about 92% of this type of test is accurate, Is there another type of test??

The diagnosis of Lychen planus was a visual.

since it's been 3 months since you last had sex then you can get confirmatory testing done. a herpes WB or a biokit would be your best choices. If your provider uses quest labs the herpes WB is test # 34534. if your local quest lab says they can't find it, tell them it's a send out test and it is offered nationally through quest and they just need to look harder for it because it is there!
