Herpes 2 and oral sex

What are the risks of contracting HSV 2 from giving oral sex? And if it transmitted will outbreaks occur on the mouth or genitals?

If you are performing oral sex and contract hsv2 then it would be oral hsv2. If there isn't any contact with the genital area, it won't be transmitted to your genitals.

Just how likely is it to catch HSV from giving oral sex?

I am negative for HSV 1 and 2. Results last week and just got carried away with someone I am see off and on. Just get nervous.

You can contract hsv2 orally but the risk is on the low side. To greatly simplify it- hsv2 doesn't "like" the oral area.  Only about 3% of all oral herpes infections ar edue to hsv2. If you aren't sur eof your partner's status, only perform oral over a condom.

Please ask your partner to get tested as well. If he is seeing you on and off, chances are he's been sexually active with other partners during the "off" times. Please read up and protect yourself.
