Herpes Blood Testing

Hi,

I had an episode of one-time unprotected sex back in September and have been worried about herpes since I started getting leg pain and random spots that disappear within a day or two at random times since April. The girl i slept with tested for everything, including swab, pap smear and recently a blood test for herpes. She was negative. Is it possible that the antibodies were not detected because she has had no symptoms? I have had a swab and visual exams only because all doctors i saw have said its not herpes and don't recommend testing. Other symptoms i have had are inability to empty my bladder fully (still a bit of pee in the urethra after i finish) and constipation/ stool coming out in small amounts.

She would have antibodies even without symptoms. You have nothing to worry about. She tested negative and you have had no symptoms that would suggest hsv. You can move forward without concern.
