Herpes Diagnosis

My doctor called me a few  days ago with the results of STD testing.  He said that the herpes test came back not as positive or negative, but that I *might* have herpes.  I am currently experiencing many symptoms of mononucleosis, including the swollen glands in the neck, sore throat with white areas at the back of my throat, constant fatigue, and I never have any energy.  I know that mono is in the herpes family, so I was just wondering if the herpes test could have been affected by me having mono?  Would the mono cause a misdiagnosis of herpes?

there's no such thing as testing coming back as you "might" have herpes. It sounds like you perhaps had either non-type specific testing done which was a total waste of your time and money or you had a + igm result.

if you can please call and ask them to read you your test results, write them down and post them here - e.g. hsv1 igg 6.8 and hsv2 igg .23 or whatever they are - I can better help you with this :)
