This forum is an un-mediated, patient-to-patient forum for questions and support regarding herpes issues such as: Herpes symptoms and treatments, causes, diagnosis, and herpes in men, tests, telling your spouse or partner.
We can best help you ify ou call the clinic monday and ask them to read your results to you and then post them here. we just need to see the actual numeric results - ie hsv1 igg 5. 1 and hsv2 3.3.
Your results are well over the false positive range so there's not really any reason not to believe them. You evidently had herpes since before your current partner if they too were also properly tested. Thank you for posting your results - it helps a lot to make sure you don't need additional testing .
I encourage you and your partner to read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com together and then discuss if you think it's worthwhile to take any precautions together or not and go from there. 8 years together and it hasn't been transmitted probably isn't a reason to make too many big changes in the relationship just because of herpes but that's totally up to the 2 of you.
Feel free to keep asking any questions you have and we'll try to help you more with this :)
