Herpes Early Stages

I'm male and in my 12th day since have protected (condom) sex with a Commercial Sex Worker.  I'm worried about Herpes, as I have very slight itch on the under part of my penis, just before the urethra.  I can't see any external bumps and this has been ongoing for about a day.  Would I see distinguishable bumps by now, after one day of slight redness?  Would they be red, translucent or under the skin?  How big are they and are they clumped together?

if you have new symptoms, you need to follow up on them.

this was protected sex so the odds that it's std related are low in general.

So I had testing during the 9th week (60 days) and everything came back negative for Herpes, HIV, Hepatitis and Syphilis.  I still have the jock itch and I noticed last night that it is painful when I ejaculate.  What could be causing this?  I haven't read anything about painful ejaculation being a symptom of Herpes, but it is of Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, but I receive a shot and 4 pills for this 2 months ago.  Could it be any of these?  What could cause this?  Do I still need to be concerned about Herpes with now 65 days w/ no blisters and a negative test?

There is a high percantage of test being positive at 8 weeks and above. However, we suggest to people to wait no less then 12 weeks for a reason (Risk and combined with the accuracy of the test make the result trustworthy).  Do what I did at 8 weeks just keep telling yourself next week.  Same thing for the next 4 weeks.

The clinicians explained to me that about 80%-85% of the time Herpes can be detected in the blood at 8+ weeks, so I've been going on their advice for this.  Do you know if that % is accurate?   I really appreciate your help Grace and Mistakeguy789.   Just talking with you guys on this post has really helped me keep everything in perspective.

fungal infections are notoriously hard to get rid of sometimes. you've been seen and properly examined several times now and no one suspects herpes either orally or genitally on you.

honestly I wouldn't even bother with any testing but if you need the peace of mind or you've never been tested for herpes before, certainly no harm in getting a test but I'd wait the full 3 months if you are going to do it.

I recently had two clinicians check me out last Saturday and Thursday.  Both say I still have a fungus infection and one of them provided me a prescription.   Are fungus infections sometimes a symptom of Herpes?  Its been 48 days w/ no symptoms that I can tell and on days 41 and 46 the clinicians didn't see any Herpes blisters.  My lip bumps were normal bumps and are unchanging, so I know I don't have oral herpes.

By the way my normal temperature is 98.6 to 98.8, so I don't know if this matters.

That is the weird thing the Planned Parenthood Clinic keeps telling me that I can test at 8 weeks and that just because I haven't showed symptoms, which they checked me for on the 12th and 18th days, doesn't mean I don't have Herpes.  And Dr. EHW stated that if I didn't show symptoms in the first 14 days I don't have Herpes.  Thoughts?

I have a 99.1 degree temperature and I'm starting to stress again that I might have Herpes.  Last night I noticed 2 bumps, similar to scrotum bumps that then dissappeared with a little red spot left in place, but no scabbing.  When Herpes blisters pop, do they hurt more or less?  I thought I was calm about this, but now tonight I'm not doing so well.

if you feel the need to test fo rherpes, you need to wait 3 months post encounter. you want a type specific herpes igg blood test done.

if you think you have symptoms of oral herpes, you can be seen while you have them for a lesion culture and typing too.  this needs done within 48 hours of the appearance of symptoms to increase the odds of an accurate lesion culture result.

I'm going for testing next week.  What test should I request for Herpes, as I don't want to get any false positives?  Thanks.

I think you have your own answer.  You won't get oral herpes from this encounter.

Quick question......I was curious can I show oral herpes if I only had sexual intercourse and not oral sex in any way.  I didn't kiss her either.

I've never had a cold sore, so I'm not sure how they start.  Is there a pimple?  How long does the pimple?  I ask because I have had no symptoms in the groin in 40 days except "Jock Itch," which was checked and verified by a Planned Parenthood Nurse.

Today I sent a quick e-mail to DR. EWH; and then this evening I noted the my lip has a little cut.  I never noticed a sore or bump, so I could have just barely bit my lip.  It is probably nothing, but I had to bother the Dr. for something this stupid.

yes it can be. no reason to check the lil guy out more than once day before or after your shower unless you feel something obviously painful going on.

Thanks, I have an appointment tomorrow.  I read your page about your experiences and feel like I'm going through the same anxiety and found that it really helped me calm down.

I do have a very tiny couple of dots in the same area.  They are the same color as the flesh, but the size of a pin needle and their not moist looking.   In fact, they can only be seen when I pull the skin tight.

Also, can this itch be caused by me constantly pulling on the skin to check for Herpes.

Chances are this is jock itch.  Condom protected sex is a low risk for HSV.

I would see a doctor to show them and they can let you know pretty quickly if its a fungal infection.  Typically just itch is just that fungal.
