Herpes IGG results
Please Help
I am worried that I have been exposed to herpes. Many symptoms, but no blisters or sores. I have had 3 HSV 2 IGG test with the following results:
9 days post exposure - .50 1.10 - negative
24 days post exposure - .56 1.10 - negative
8 weeks post exposure - .79 1.10 - negative
Does this trend in titer levels suggest that my body is in the process of seroconverting and creating antibodies? Are these results related or are results "stand alone" and simply negative?
Also, as a precaution I started valtrex on day 7 post exposure. I don't if this affects the test results.

I am so shocked I can't even think of what to say. My 18 week IGG was negative!
0.43 on the <0.90 - 1.10< scale. I was going to go straight to the WB, but I had the Herpeselect order in hand, so I just used it. Ofcourse I still have my doubts and will still do a WB at 6 months. Is being off valtrex for 2 months really long enough to get an accurate test result?

people who have no reason to doubt their test results, don't come to the boards looking for help/doubting their results. it gets very unevenly unbalanced so that it looks like a worse test than it is.

Why do people get the herpeselect? It seems like alot of false positives that have to be confirmed with a WB.

One month off valtrex, "patiently" waiting for the next month to pass to get retested.
I have noticed a cycle occuring. Soreness in groin, right in crack between leg and groin. Then a buzzing or vibrating in penis (feels like cell phone on vibrate). Then a burning sensation on penis (feels like a "cool" wet burn like BenGay). Then minor pain at base of penis, fairly deep inside.
This has happened twice in the last 5 weeks. It also happened at the beginning, but I did not really note the order of these symptoms. Also each time it has gotten shorter and less severe.
Does this resemble herpes?

the handbook is accurate and up to date. it's far more accurate than many other sources are.
many things can cause the symptoms you've had. don't get stuck into thinking it has to be herpes. repeat your blood testing later on for peace of mind.

I read the Herpes Handbook. I have listed the initial infection symptoms with my experience.
headache N

I stopped the valtrex
I read the "dyinggaul" thread. My remaining symptom is like his, red/purple splotches, puffy and shiny (glassy) on ridge of penis glands. This has been present for 6-7 weeks. Could herpes cause a persistant irritation like this?
Also, if one did get a prodrome burning sensation, how long would it last?

I am now thinking I have 2 seperate issues. The first started 4 days after exposure and lasted about 4 weeks. Tingling, burning, minor cold like feeling and sore week legs. At about this time I may have caught a cold from my kids who both had colds when they went back to school. This would have been a mild sore throat, and "upper" lymph node swelling.
I told my doc I wanted off Valtrex and he recommended I go from 1000mg per day to 500mg per day for 1-2 weeks and then stop completely? Don't know his logic?
Now this week I feel pretty good, but the tingling and burning has returned after being gone for 4-5 weeks. Could this be OB number 2? I consciencely feel the anxiety level has been low for the last several week. Just when I seem to turn a corner something always changes and pulls me back into the "herpes vortex".

just tingling and burning without obvious lesions isn't often herpes related. 99% of males who come here convinced that they have genital herpes without obvious lesions and similar symptoms as what you have, end up finding out that they didn't have herpes in the first place.

I am sure this request has been covered many times over but............
There is alot of information and misinformation about herpes on the internet. My 2 GP's don't seem to know all that much. I would like to hear from people who have experienced it and who know it.

No this is not some new std going on. almost all that you've mentioned sounds like you are just looking at your genital area far too often and tensing up the muscles down there far too much as well as you had a cold/sore throat at one point. we get lots of posts like this from males especially. You know how when you have to spend a lot more time than usual at the computer and your shoulders, neck and arms start to ache? Same thing happens in your pelvic area. You get worried so you are assuming positions you usually don't assume with the mirror and flashlight trying to see everywhere down there. You tense all those muscles down there all the time over it. You also then spend a lot of time sitting in front of a computer trying to find a solution and eventually, things just get out of control!
Try doing a lot of stretching and a good quality therapeutic massage is also usually helpful. Loosen up your back and leg muscles more.

The tingling and burning in genitals started again last night. I will concede that the antivirals are working and it is not herpes. Gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis, urine tests, all negative.
I am 44 and have never had swollen lymph nodes in my armpits. I have never had strange twinges of pain in my groin, arms, legs and neck?
Is there a new std that is not on anyone's radar yet?
Medhelp message boards are full of men(and women) with negative tests and similiar constitutional symptoms that last for weeks or months. Yeast, staph, strep infections?
I can't imagine guilt, stress and anxiety could cause all these multiple symptoms. After about 5-6 weeks I finally realized I may not have the answers I need for 6 months. At this point my anxiety level dropped to the point I can funtion at work and at home. But my symptoms continue to morph.

nothing you've added sounds like herpes either. even without treatment, herpes would run its course and you'd have clear times in between symptoms. you haven't had obvious lesions either.
antivirals work very well for most people who take them. if this was herpes going on, you'd be symptom free at this point.

unusual sensativity to cold
foreskin darker and thicker-penis glands purple color (from pink)

nothing you've mentioned sounds like herpes going on at this point. as war on terraces so correctly added -not getting better on antivirals is one more reason to doubt that herpes is the cause of your symptoms.
starting suppressive therapy from the gitgo can delay seroconversion hence why when you haven't had a clear diagnosis of herpes, it's not good to stay on it and prolong testing time like you have.

my doctor told me the valtrex would have only a minimal affect on seroconversion time?

very minor flu like (muscle aches, chills, fatigue, sore weak legs) lasted 4 weeks
uti like sympotms - urgency, dribbling - lasted about 1 week

numbness and tingling in back, and arms - lasted about 3 weeks
swollen lymph nodes, first in groin, then armpits, then neck - lasted 4 weeks
