and then about 4 or 5 in kind of a line that ran down about 1 inch from the edge of my mouth. Probably was a cold sore, just seemed unusual. Also, since the encounter, I had kind of a sore throat. Not very bad, but enough to talk a little hoarse. I also had tightness in my chest, like a chest cold, which has seemed to gone away now a week later. My neck feels swollen, a little, but I don't think I have swollen lymph nodes. Just feels tight and "thick." I do have some small, white patches (maybe 1/8" or so) in the back of my throat. Otherwise, I am a healthy, mid-40s male. I don't have any other symptoms. Now, my question is this...I have been tested for herpes before and had a positive result (of course, since I have had cold sores all of my life). I never got the "typed" test, so I don't know if it is I or II. If the sore on my lip was Herpes 1, could it have been caused by a re-infection due to the unprotected oral sex I performed? I read somewhere that if you had Herpes 1, you were pretty resistent to Herpes 2. Is it possible it is a new Herpes 2 infection on my lip? Is there any other STD I could have picked up from this?? I plan on taking 2g of zithromax just incase but I am just wanting to cover all the bases.
