Herpes Ocular Keratitis?

by maltipoo, Mar 10, 2009 10:38AM
I recently had exposure to type 1 herpes by rubbing my eye after touching the outbreak (stupid i know). Ever since then i have been having pain behind my eye, foggy vision, and a dry burning feeling in my eye. I have been to several opthamologists, optomotrists, and primary care doctors while these symptoms have been occuring and they have checked and said it is not present in my eye. Its been almost a month now that these things have been happening. I know these pains arent coming from no where and it seems like too much of a coincidence that it could be something else since they started right after the exposure. I am have been taking acyclovir daily just in case but i am very very worried and scared please if anyone has any information it would help me to get sleep at night.

The test for ocular herpes is a simple test, and if several specialists have said its not in your eye, then it isn't in your eye.

If you are still having symptoms while on acyclovir, that's another good sign that its not in your eye.

You need to pick a doctor and follow up on this, but its not herpes.

Thanks so much for responding so fast. Im really scared because i heard that the virus settles in the nerves behind your eyes and i am wondering if the outbreak just hasnt happened yet and the pain behind my eyes is it just settling in my nerves? A doctor said that without an outbreak he couldnt see it, so do you think that i have it it just hasnt surfaced yet? (Sorry to ask so many questions i just want to feel better about this and stop worrying)

You've been seen by several providers now who don't feel this is herpes related.  It's time to stop worrying so much about it.  You have covered your bases as far as herpes from the sounds of it.
