Herpes? Open Lesions

Hey everyone:

I'll start with some essentials: Back in July I had a risky sexual encounter. Almost immediately I was slammed with a series of symptoms I couldn't diagnose. It turns out I was experience mono and the preliminary stages of oro-facial herpes. I'm all better now and have kinda gotta over that.

But now I have an unusual symptom.

Right on the bottom of my mons pubis (base of the shaft) I have this patch of skin that's about three open "holes" and surrounded by pink skin. It doesn't hurt, doesn't itch, and even prodding it will not cause it to hurt past reason. It bleeds a little if you wipe it. I have had itching in this area for the past two days. Not tingling, but itching. It doesn't really itch now... (Mind you, I have eczema so I've been itching everything below my stomach for a week now).

Now, I have been really letting loose with soap and water on my genital area for awhile now. I am completely obsessive compulsive about it, and it is kinda crippling. Nevertheless, my skin has been under constant aggravation. I had numerous little red patches that go and come without harm or dismay, but this one just looks troubling.

I'm on anti-herpes viral treatment right now (Aceclovir) for the oral herpes. During my risky encounter, I do not remember receiving any oral sex from the individual who I assume gave me herpes. Since then, I have received oral sex only briefly from a partner with no history of herpes.

Thoughts or suggestions?

If it's not itchy or painful, it's not likely to be due to herpes.

Thank you grace,

I  have an appt. scheduled for Friday. We're going to take a loot at it then. I'm hoping it doesn't go away by then.

As of this morning, same old same old. It might have shrunk just a tad... still not itching or pain.

This isn't likely to be due to hsv1. Have you followed up on it with your dermatologist to try to find out if it's due to your eczema or something else?

No need for any increased cleansing of the genitals - in fact it will only dry out your skin and aggravate your eczema.  Just once daily in the shower is all it takes.
