I started dating my current girlfriend about 6 weeks ago and things are going very well. Before we became sexually involved she sat me down and told me she had HSV-2 and has had it for about 4 years. My initial reaction
was freak out and hit the ground running but we discussed the virus for a while (on top of my own extensive research) and I became more comfortable with the situation. I dont believe that somebody should be condemned for one bad mistake they made in the past because that could have easily been me. Anyways, she assured me that her breakouts are under control (about twice a year) and that we will do everything possible to ensure that I dont get the disease. We have been having sex
greatly decreases the risk in that department. So I guess what I am asking is if there is more that we can do to make sure we keep preventing transmission and finally what is the risk of me giving her oral sex? We have refrained from that completely on both ends to date. I just assume leave it out if the risk is too great.
I was tested for EVERYTHING this past summer- well before I began dating her. However, the more I hear about this igg test, the more I conclude that it is much more definitive and accurate? I appreciate the advice and I will look into taking this test. thanks!
Grace-
she isnt but she has offered to take them if it makes me feel more comfortable. However I told her that she knows her body best and feels that her healthy lifestyle has enabled her to get a grasp on it. How much would taking a suppressive reduce risk of transmission and shredding?
