Herpes Question>

by Robert3113, Jan 13, 2009 03:01PM
I am a 19 year old male and have had 2 previous sexual partners, the last being several months ago.  I, nor any of them, never had any STD like symptoms and I had thought I did not really need to worry about it since both girls were not particualry high risk, and condoms were almost always used (there were two brief times of unprotected penetration)   However, the past 2 weeks I often get itching urges in my genitels.  Mostly it is in different parts on my penile skin, but sometimes my testicles or upper thigs are itchy too.  There are also occasional (not as frequent as the itching) shooting pains/some kind of tingling in my genitels.  However, I have been thoroughly examining myself a lot and there have been no red marks/blisters/sores or any differences at all from my normal appearance.  So, could this itching be herpes even though there are no herpes marks/blisters?  Is that possible?

I do excerise a lot, and I know sweat could case itchy rashes - but again there are no rashes at all.  Also, I did trim the hair down there, which made have contributed to the itchy feeling, but I;m pretty sure it started before that.

It has gotten better the past 2 or 3 days, but when I am not preoccupied it wil be itchy for a few seocnds again.

So, can this be herpes even without any physical spots/lesions?

Thanks very much - I really apprecaite this

the itching is not in one specific part of hte genitels, nor are the shooting pains when they occur (very brief and not that painful really),  it is hard to say exactly where they are - just wanted to clarify that.

Thanks again

This really sounds like plain ole jock itch. see your doctor to confirm this.

You should always have std testing done in between partners. condoms are not 100% protection for some std's and you also have no always used them.  While it's on your mind, get tested to see what your status is. Assume nothing about your partners!

Thanks for the reply,

I did go to my doctor after my last relationship actually, and he tested me for ghonorea, chlamydia, and HIV.  (all came back negative)  He actually said he does not usually test people for herpes who do not have symptoms/have not been with anyone who tested positive for herpes.    The itch was not nearly as bad today,  (hair is growing back, and I have showering more often could explain it)   But should I go get herpes testing?    My second partner actually tested negative for herpes (as well as all other STDs) after we were together, but I guess I could have got it from the first/maybe the second too long to develop antibodies?   So do I need herpes blood testing in this situation?

thanks very much, this is really a great service you provide

If you know you need the peace of mind, wait 4 months after your last sexual encounter and get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is.
