Herpes Questions

I have been to two doctors. One of them told me I had Molluscum, the other told me I had irritation from shaving.

First, I had painless white bumps for about two-three weeks. I went to my doctor and he told me it would go away in two weeks. After this, I began feeling really irritated on my thighs and right side of my vulva lips.  So I had a few bumps that lasted a couple of days, but didn't really hurt or anything.  I went to another gyno who told me it was irritation from shaving. I've pretty much had a constant pain in that area since then. Lot's of irritation, redness. I've been to two doctors at least 5 or 6 times. Each time i've been told it's def. not herpes, but I'm just confused as to why it's been going on this long. The bumps I get are a little red, not filled with any fluid and pretty much are just there, it's the area surrounding them that is in pain. Also, I've been having similar pain in my mouth.

I had protected vaginal sex, but unprotected oral sex. I've also had frequent headaches all the time and back pain. I'm thinking about going to a gyno or clinic that specializes in STD's... does anyone think this sounds like herpes?

At this point nothing we can add to this.  You've been told you don't have genital herpes causing this by medical providers who have actually seen your symptoms. Continue to follow up with them or even pick a 3rd doctor to consult if you aren't satisfied with the care you are getting. I know it's a pain to keep going back over and over to be seen but really nothing else you can do at this point.

If you need the peace of mind, follow up with a herpes igg blood test 4 months after your last sexual encounter before all of this. If you've never had one before though, you have nothing to compare it to if it is + for either type.

I went to a third doctor who also said I do not have herpes. THey said that the CDC does not recommend IGG or IGH testing so they won't perform it. THey said they think I just have lymph node pain from fighting off a moluscum (molluscum) infection. However, a new bump just appeared today, it's painless but  looks like there is pus inside.

I also have been having extreme nerve pain in my groin area, grace do you think that this a symptom of herpes? I have it all the time pretty much.

We really can't help you on an online forum with this, you need to go and be seen and get properly examined for your new symptoms.

Also the cdc does recommend type specific herpes testing - it's right in their 2006 std guidelines.

Hi Grace,
I was examined again and another doctor said they do not think it's herpes. In fact, four doctors have now told me it's absolutely not herpes, including 3 gynos and 1 primary care. I even went to Planned Parenthood where they specialize in STD related issues. I'm still having pain in my groin area, but have had no bumps since when the doctor last looked at me a few months ago. My primary care doctor has run some other tests, but says an HSV test is not necessary because my symptoms do not seem like herpes. Should I rest assured and stop thinking about it?

I already told you that if you need the peace of mind, repeat the blood test at the 4 month mark.

You've been seen repeatedly and told it's not herpes.  Maybe it's time to start believing them and move on to other causes?  I know it's frustrating but just keep going back to be seen until they figure out what is going on.

About two three days ago I shaved and now have a number of red marks on my vulva, they don't hurt, but my skin feels like it's burning.  It almost feels as though underneath by skin is in pain and when I push down I get general skin pain, but the red spots don't hurt themselves.

Do herpes bumps hurt when you press down on them, generally?

If you have new symptoms, you should go and have them properly evaluated.

I'm going to the doctor on Monday, but from experience can anyone tell me if they have had any of the these symptoms:

White Painless bumps that started about  two weeks after sex, along with minor irritation.
Then leg pain for 6 months with no bumps, then I shaved 2 weeks ago and I got pink bumps that hurt like hell and are now crusting over. I've had really awful skin pain my grion area since feb. now, that not gone away.

my ex was tested for herpes twice and does not have it. He also has had sex with other girls since me and none of them have symptoms so we are quite confused as to what's going on.

no everything is herpes related. continue to follow up on this with your provider as needed.

it's almost a year later and I now have purple bumps on my thighs that crust over,as well as small pimple like pink bumps near my vagina, they have not gone away. They leae and come quite often. what should ido?
