Herpes Scalp

Hi,

I have hsv 1 orally and i think on my finger.  Is it possible to transfer the herpes from my finger to my scalp?  I believe I washed my hair during prodrome (tingling finger) and now my scalp hurts and tingles constantly.

I would have thought the shampoo would kill the virus?

you need to follow up on this. these aren't typical side effects of herpes antivirals.

could the tingling painful scalp be a side effect from antivirals?

I've had strange rashes on and off and other pains, tingles, etc that I didn't have before herpes.

none of this sounds like herpes going on.  be seen by a dermatologist if your regular provider can't figure out what is going on.

no, i haven't been seen as there are no blisters to culture.  my head tingles every day and the itching is crazy.  i think everyone at work thinks I have lice!   and, at random times i will get a pain at the crown of my head.

when i washed my hair my finger was tingling but there wasn't an open sore.   i would think the skin is too thick to shed even during prodrome?  and, the scalp was too thick to penetrate?  especially with the shampoo.

odds are this isn't herpes going on in your scalp. have you b een seen yet? have you had your finger properly looked at and tested?
