Herpes Spreading

I was recently diagnosed with herpes and have entered into a relationship since then. My boyfriend is cautious understandably and has asked me many questions about it which I have answered as best I could. One question I didn't know the answer to was if he could contract herpes from the fluids on bedsheets after sex. We both want to know as much about it as possible and want to take every precaution to make sure he does not get herpes as well. Any and all answers are greatly appreciated.

No. Herpes is transmitted by direct skin to skin contact.

How were you diagnosed as having herpes? HSV1 or HSV2? Has your partner been tested to know his own herpes status? You need to know his as well to be able to make decisions.
