Herpes Symptom?

I received oral sex from a lady who I know realized had a visible sore on her lip.  About 5 days later, I started to feel a tingling in my perineal area.  Today, after 5 weeks, I still have that feeling but also have had a strong burning "sensation" in my perineal area.  No other symptoms no sores on my penis, no fever, rashes, etc.).  I tested for all of the STD's which were negative although the HerpesSelect Test was done at 3 weeks from initial symptoms so the negative result may not mean much.  Plan on testing again at 7 weeks and then again at 12 weeks.  Tried antibiotics for 3 week swith no relief.

Doc agrees that the timeing is coincidental butstill says it is an inflammed prostate.  Ironically, it hurts more when I sit and it is actually little or no pain when I lie in bed and when I wake up in the morning. Then it starts agan.
My anxiety is high and that is not helping.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

as I've said repeatedly, not a herpes issue.

Went to both my urologist and colo rectal doctors
as the main complaints I continue to have are
peistatitis type symptoms, and burning sensation
in perineal and rectal area, sometimes into my
thigh/leg.   No significant
findings by either.  Prostititus symptoms, after
antibiotics and NSAID's are waning and
core tal doc found no
fisdures ,etc. that might
produce the intense burning.  I have read about
pudendal nerve inflammation and just wanted
your thought on that being a primary outbreak
symptom and potential reason why I still have
symptoms 8 weeks from the exposure.
Thank you again for your time.

Thanks Grace.  I understand and will continue to follow-up as I am.  I just now seem to feel as if my symptoms are beginning to line up more with Herpes that was transferred by this lady's finger.  I was taking some solace in my negative 6 week HerpeSelect test and while I still plan on doing more testing on a bi-weekly basis, I am not as confident as I felt before.

I thank you very much.

Being as anxious as I am can you fnd a minute to respind to my post below.  I am now thinking that herpetic proctititis is a distinct possibility as she could have touched her lip sore before fingering my anus.  Intense burning there, no visible sores, still have tingling in prostate area and tip of penis.  I do remember early on having one bowel movement that was streaked with blood and mucus but no pain.  Rectal finger exam did not hurt and nothing was felt by the doctor.  Scheduled for a colonoscopy in 2 weeks.  Now thinking my HerpesSelect negative at 6 weeks is worthless.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.  I am curious as I believe that if she touched her sore on her lip and then played with my anus, that iot would be easily transferred and might be what has been causing this intense burning sensation in the anal/perineal area.  This has been going on for about 6 weeks now and not sure what tomthink about a negative HerpesSelect test at 6 weeks.

Extremely unlikely you acquired anal herpes by touching of the finger. So much so it shouldn't be considered. I think your anxiety is hightening your symptoms. Sounds like prostraitis to me. Contine to follow up with your provider if you continue to have symptoms. We cannot be of much more help.

Grace, one last post...promise. The burning in my perineal area is still strong and I am now wondering if it is possible that through this lady touching my anus with her finger (and a visible sore on her lips) that I could have anal herpes.  I do have a few anal tags but again no visible exterior signs of sores.  No problem with bowel movements or pain there, just that intense burning.  Maybe still prostate.  Testing negative at 6 weeks.

really nothing else I can help you with. this isn't a herpes issue.

continue to follow up with an urologist as needed for the prostate issues.

Grace:

Thank you once again.  I hate to trouble you but it has been helpful to me to communicate with you about this.  I am now on a business trip and lots of time alone to think.  In spite of your replies, I went once again for a HerpesSelect ELLISa test at 6 weeks and it came back negative (as did HIV).  I still am concerned that after 3 different antibitoic treatments of 14 days each, that I continue to have a "pinching" at the trip of my penis, perineal discmfort, and some urehta burnig sensation (but not on urination).  Still no sores, flu symptoms, discharge, etc.  I am now on week 7 from that night of oral sex and 6 weeks of these symptoms which started 5 days after that night. But the fact that the lady who I received unprotected oral sex from had a sore on her lip, continues to make me think that my symtoms and the lack of progress made with the antibitotics still could be herpes.  Anyway, I am sorry about my anxiety but can't thank you enough for all you do on this board.

I agree - a combination of anxiety as well as prostatitis can cause these sorts of symptoms too.

continue to follow up with your provider as needed. no reason to still be thinking herpes as a cause.

It's prodome, not prodone.
As you might have read it on the internet, prodome will only happen in recurrent herpes, not during first infections. So your symptoms are most likely anxiety-related than herpes related.

Grace: Sorry but my anxiety continues to make me go mad!  I still have that burning feeling in my perineal area and sometimes at the tip of my penis at 5.5 weeks from the above encounter.  I did also have that 1 day of fairly tender groin tenderness in the pubic area that went away in about 5 hours.  Still no rash, blisters, fever, etc.  Just that feeling as if "something" is going to erupt.  If I had to classify it, I would call it that "prodrone" that I have read about but without anything further happening.  I mention this as many people on the internet say that subtle signs such as itching, tingling, burning, feeling are also common (without the blisters).  For sure, I was negative prior to this so not sure if a primary infection would be more apparent or not.  Doctor still thinks prostatititis.

The HerpesSelect at 3.5 weeks from symptoms was negative as I mentioned.  I am doing all I can not to go back and get tested this week (6 weeks in).  Thank you

you wouldn't just have an inflamed prostate from a newly acquired herpes infection without obvious lesions.  since you were negative on your testing 3 weeks into things, odds are you would've had a very "classic" initial ob if you had contracted herpes  - multiple obvious and painful sores.

your provider has found a source for your symptoms, no reason not to believe that that is what is going on.

Dear Grace:

I thank you very much for your reply.  Having people like you available to talk to is such a great asset, especially during high times of anxiety.  I will continue to follow-up with my urologists but am having a hard time with seperating the fact that I had unprotected oral sex with someone who I now know had a lip sore and then a week or so later, having prostititis like symptoms (still after 5 weeks).  Other than this symptom and about 3 weeks ago, I had tenderness inmy groin area for about 4 hours, no other symptoms still.

I removed your other post since it not being in this post made no sense at all.

I wouldn't bother with any more testing for herpes. you've had no symptoms of hsv1 genitally so it's not worth repeated testing for it.

just tingling and no obvious lesions for 5 weeks isn't herpes going on.

prostatitis is common after unprotected oral sex. what is normal mouth bacteria, isn't always so normal in the urogenital tract. It's why we recommend protected oral sex.

continue to follow up with your urologist as needed. no reason for more std testing.
