Once again, from you conversation with Dr. Hook: " Most people who acquire HSV develop lesions. If you do/have not developed herpetic lesions within 14 days of exposure, the chances that you got herpes are essential zero and further blood testing is not needed."
Thank you again Grace. Thanks for your information. It was really helpful. The last question and really no more. i probably said that a lot of times on here but its seriously my last. when you first get infected with genital herpes do you get lesions, blisters or any other symptoms right away or you could show no symptoms at all and be infected without knowing.
having hsv1 orally gives you significant protection against contracting hsv1 genitally. it can happen but the odds of it happening are incredibly low.
you aren't likely to contract hsv2 from receiving oral sex. not many folks have hsv2 orally and those who do, it doesn't shed often to be transmitted to a partner.
Could you get genital herpes hsv1 if you have the oral hsv1? Could you get hsv2 in receiving unprotected oral sex or you have a greater chance of getting it in sexual intercourse?
That was my concern grace. thank you. cause i was thinking if i tested negative i should of have a zero. Thank you.
you never get a 0 as a result if that is your concern. the way they do the test you always get a "little bit" of a numeric result even if you are negative.
Not sure why you can't determine this answer.
As Grace stated "your hsv2 igg is negative. if it's been at least 3 months since the encounter, no reason to repeat it."
Since you stated it hasn't been at least 3 months since the encounter, repeat your IgG at that point should you want peace of mind.
Im annoying but i read that when you get genital herpes you usually get no symptoms.
I have oral hsv1. Could i get genital hsv1 if i have the oral hsv1 already. Do you usually get hsv 2 from sexually intercourse than from oral sex?
I understand petal. But with that 0.14 does it mean i have antibodies of hsv-2 and could change to a positive? Thats all i want to know and ill be done posting things here. Thank you.
You have been helped out. Your questions are no doubt anxiety driven, and nonetheless repetative.
From your post with Dr. Hook:
You: "1. Were the IGG BLOOD test results to early to detect for stds? Could they be false negative results? "
Dr. Hook: "1. Yes your blood testing was early. Studies show it take, on average at least 21 days for persons to develop antibodies to HSV. In some people it may take longer, up to 6 months. In general however, we do not recommend use of HSV blood testing for diagnostic testing in situations such as yours. Most people who acquire HSV develop lesions. If you do/have not developed herpetic lesions within 14 days of exposure, the chances that you got herpes are essential zero and further blood testing is not needed."
Yes, he did but i misread the results petal. Cause i said in the experts forum that i tested 0.14 for oral hsv-1 which is wrong. I tested 0.14 for hsv-2 which came out negative after nine days of unprotected oral sex. Im wondering if i get a retest that i will test positive cause it seems that the igg blood test detected some antibodies to give me a 0.14 for hsv-2. could this be a false negative cause it detected some antibodies but werent enough antibodies to test positive cause it was to early. Just driving myself crazy with this now. Someone help me out. Thank you for your time.
Sorry Grace. Thank you for your respond. It wasnt three months after the exposure. It was actually nine days after the exposure. Could it be a false negative. Thank you.
it gets really confusing when you have multiple posts going on. it's best if you just keep adding to one post as we ask in our read before posting post. thank you.
your hsv2 igg is negative. if it's been at least 3 months since the encounter, no reason to repeat it.
I tested positive for oral hsv-1. And neative for hsv2 at 0.14
