Herpes Test

Hello All,

A woman I'm dating told me she dated a guy  in the past who had Herpes, they had unprotected sex before he found out.

She has had two test that were negative since, we havent had sex yet and I'm wondering how accurate the testing is?

as long as she had type specific herpes igg blood testing done at least 3 months after the last time she had sex with any partner, her test results are accurate.  It's not just about the partner who knew they had herpes, it's making sure her testing was done long enough after any sex partner she's had.

have you ever been tested for herpes to know your own status?

Most STD tests are pretty good, considering window periods have been meet.

Her tests would be conclusive after 3 months post exposure for herpes.

Thats what I thought. I was wondering if a person has never been symptomatic would they still test positive if they are infected?

BTW I'm scheduled to be tested:)

yes, you still will test + if you are infected whether you show obvious symptoms or not.
