I was experience symptoms that i suspected to be genital herpes. When i went to the doctor she was convinced that's what it was and did a culture of some of the ulcers. my blood test came back negative but the culture came back positive. The problem is, no one i've been with has ever had herpes. Is it possible that the test was wrong?
It is very rare for a culture to be wrong, you don't know for sure that anyone you've been with doesn't have HSV unless you have seen documentation to say so,many people are asymptomatic and don't know they have it themselves.
If your blood test was negative but your culture was positive then it's a newly acquired infection for you. was the culture typed to know if it's hsv1 or hsv2?
