Recently was revealed to me that a new friend who greets me with a dry kiss on the cheek everytime I see gets cold sores every so often. She told she had some last month and that coinciding with her return from being away. She doesn't seem to be awar that it is infectious
? I don't want to be awkward but should I not let her greet me in this fashion or just hope that she is kinder when she does have one? This is someone that would pass around a water bottle to share so clearly she doesn't understand cold sore virus can be gifted!
In adults, oral herpes is most likely transmitted by passionate kissing.
If it bothers you, and she is your friend, have an honest (kind!) conversation with her. Share this link with her if you want, so she - and you - understands her oral herpes better.
of it...Statistically at least 60% of the adult population has it (upwards of 90% by the time we make it to the old folks home)...
That having been said, 1 out of every 2-3 people you will kiss has oral herpes - many never having recognizable symptoms. You just happen to know this girls status.
Would like Terri Warren or the moderator to answer what the % likelihood of contracting via a dry kiss on cheek when a sore may be present or via the incidental sharing of a glass?
You have to pay to post on Terri Warren's expert forum. Grace has a life just like the rest of us volunteers and she would respond the same that I am now... As adults, oral herpes is almost exclusively transmitted through romantic type kisses, not from a dry kiss on the cheek or sharing food or drinks.
