Culture results back. Negative. Doctor say they are normal zits. Explained skin crawling sensation in face, genital region, feet, and arms. Explained it's there at night. He acted like he thought I was crazy. Very frustrating. I am a very logical person, never had any health issues in my life outside of basic flu/cold. Not sure what to do now. Still have weirs bumps in the corner of my eyes nearest the nose on the little patch of pink skin that seperates corner of eyeball and face skin. Still getting zits. Still have random small red bumps on thighs and buttocks. This really sucks. Please let me know of anyone has any ideas.
lmao if I could only take pictures to show you, you have described the exact same thing I have been dealing with...exactly! other than the itchy scrotum lol
all my test are neg so there is hope !
I should have results on Monday. This is all so crazy. I'm starting to think that what I have going on is an issue other than herpes. Current symptoms include red and wrinkly head of penis. Irritated red hair follicles at base of shaft. Overall penis looks much more wrinkled than it ever has. Still developing zits on face, but haven't gotten any of the really large deep kind that had been plaguing me. Still have strange small growths in the corner of both eyes closest to nose. In the small area of pink skin in between eyeball and skin Still feeling tired, and really run down. After results from culture on Monday I am going to see a dermatologist if the zits are not herpes related.
Please update on your culture I have not had the chance to do this with my facial pimples and I am very curious to see what happens as we are in the same boat!
You don't have herpes and can expect a negative result from the culture. See my comments in your new thread.
Well I have received IgG Blood test back after 7 weeks. Negative. I'm bit convinced. I get crawly skin sensations in the face and genital area. Recently had one of the pimples cultured on my face. Anxious to get results.
Oh, and I just want to say to pleaseHelp789, DON'T PANIC. You're going through the absolute worst phase of HSV2 infection right now. For some people it can be bad. But for almost EVERYONE it gets much, much better with some time. In 12 months you might find you hardly have noticeable symptoms at all. That's what happened to me.
I suffered with some bad symptoms for 6 months and it was quite upsetting and distracting. But it's almost like I don't even have herpes now, the symptoms have become so mild.
Hmm, I have to disagree with a couple other posts here. You're contradicting the diagnosis of his physician, who actually saw the outbreak. PleaseHelp789 wrote: "She says I have herpes and has me do blood work and puts me on Valtrax, 3 grams a day." We have to take a physician's positive diagnosis in such a case as a very good indication of a herpes infection. After all, half the advice that gets given on forums is "please go see a doctor because you can't diagnose someone over the Internet". Here the doctor even prescribed Valtrex.
Now, a doctor can be wrong. In fact, many doctors actually dismiss atypical symptoms of HSV2 and fail to diagnose it properly. In this case, the doctor seems to have concluded that the patient's atypical symptoms are indeed herpes. PleaseHelp789 could very well exhibiting atypical symptoms and his doctor said, yes, this is herpes. Let's assume this doctor is correct in her diagnosis, though getting a positive swab from an outbreak is the only real way to know for sure that it is HSV2.
Taking the doctor's diagnosis into account, I will say that yes, it is very possible to have a constant outbreak for several weeks during a primary infection stage of HSV2. It's not typical at all. But it matches my symptoms. My doctor also dismissed the HSV2 diagnosis because he said, "you don't get herpes every day". Well I did. I don't now, but for the first 6 months I definitely did.
I also found that I had constant, daily, HSV1 outbreaks on my face concurrently with the HSV2 infection. The HSV1 infection was an old infection from my teens, and had not recurred in 15 years! But after the HSV2 infection, bang, cold sores were popping up on my chin, cheek, lip and neck. Keep in mind I'm otherwise totally healthy with a normal immune system, and balanced diet with lots of exercise. My reaction is ATYPICAL but less rare than many people think.
So I'm just saying it's possible to be getting HSV1 or even HSV2 (much rarer) on the face at the same time as HSV2 genitally. Get a swab of a new blister, and by all means get a second opinion. There cases where people are misdiagnosed as positive for herpes. However, we can't rule out these symptoms either.
Be careful with anti bacterial medications, if it's not bacterial or fungal and it is truly herpes then using these creams can cause it to spread.
If it has been going for 5 weeks then this is almost certainly not herpes, which was largely impossible in respect of your face. The fact that antivirals are doing nothing also supports this.
It will most likely be a bacterial issue, hence seek the advice of your doctor or dermatologist to help here.
Your best hope to figure this out is to have the pimples cultured if it's herpes then they will test positive you can also have them checked for staph I had the same issue but they have left for now so I don't have the chance to find out they always come back tho
Is it possible that I could have staph infection? The zits turn into red scabs on my face and they tend to group together after an initial one forms. This hasn't stopped for 5 weeks. Also feeling so run down. If normal energy level is a ten I am currently operating on a 4.
The chances of a HSV infection, and we will assume HSV2 for this discussion, with protected sex is about 1 in 3000 episodes. Hence the odds are well in your favor.
Next, herpes does not appear in 26 hours. It takes 2 days minimum and 4 on average. The early emergence of symptoms is most likely not related to herpes.
If you only had vaginal sex with this partner, then that is where the herpes would infect you and the only location where herpes would appear. The face and mouth are unrelated.
I have no idea why a doctor would diagnose you with herpes without a positive swab or blood test.
However you need to wait until 12 weeks after the exposure and have an IgG blood test, the results of which you can take as conclusive on your herpes status.
