I was diagnosed with herpes about 3 years ago. This past year I went to the doctor complaining of joint pain. I had a positive RA factorFactor ix complex. I decided to get a second opinion after being on MethotrexateMethotrexate Methotrexate sodium Methotrexate sodium, preservative free for 6 months. Right now Im getting tested for Lyme. My question is I heard that Herpes has a effect on the Lyme test. So it could show that I am negative even if I am positve.
western blot(since you have other diseases that can make a low false positive. more than likely it might come back false positive and you still will have to get retested to know your status) ! tests get confusing when docs dont tell you anything!(i spew about it in my blogs "a-lot" lol)hsv serology test have a lot of problems especially if you have diseases that can make false positives like hsv 1. etc...
How were you diagnosed? second opinions savesSafe driving for teens Safe sex lives lol! if you had a focus hsv igg test done and your score was under 3.5/3.0 it might have been a false positive to begin w and they should have had you do a western blot then to confirm your status!(i have to do the same thing and that was over 5 months ago and no symptoms not even a std history-i had to find all this out on my own so i guess im my second opinion lol other than testing,so it never hurts)
I've never heard of having genital herpes as causing a false negative lyme test but then again, I have no reason to be up to date on lyme testing outside of the basics. Definitely this is something you can discuss with your rheumatologist if you have questions about your lyme test results when you get them.
