Herpes and bleeding

I have a lesion that has not gone away for YEARS. I tested positive for oral herpes in my genital area about 4 years ago....i've never had a large breakout just one lesion that rarely goes away. Ive taken valtrex that i thought may have helped but now that im not on it it seems to heal and open up about the same...usually around my period... this lesion has a tendency to bleed as well...I am beginning to think that it isnt herpes but i dont have health insurance at the moment and am clueless as to what it could be. Anyone out there have a similiar situation?

herpes lesions do not stick around for years. whatever you are thinking is a herpes lesion lingering this long, isn't.
