Herpes and chronic epididymitis

Hi,
I had a severe initial outbreak of genital herpes once in 2004. Since then, i have had a very small sore almost exactly after 2 yrs. & then 3 yrs. from the original outbreak. Nothing big. However, for the past year 07-08 I have had chronic epididymitis on both sides. I can remember two occasions prior to the chronic stage where I had testicular pain for a short period (two weeks or less). I cannot remember exactly, but I think the very first episode of testicular pain (which lasted a short time) was 2-3 months after the initial herpes outbreak. Is there a possibility that these two are related? Are there cases of genital herpes causing chronic epididymitis?
