Herpes and indirect transmission

Herpes and indirect transmission

I've been very confused about this topic.
1)If I have a cold sore on my lips. and my gf kiss me (she hasn't any cold sore at the moment) and she after kissing me perform oral sex on me, how much is the risk I can get hsv-1 genital? I think both of us are hsv-1 positive while at the moment of oral sex she hasn't any cold sore, just I had one since 2 days before, treated with aciclovir and lysine.
2)I've seen some sort of lips protector to apply on the cold sore. That can prevent the transmission both for kissing or oral sex?

So you have hsv1 orally.

Does your gf also have hsv1 orally?

Your gf performing oral on you after kissing you when you have an active cold sore is not a risk for you contracting hsv1 genitally.

No, lip products do not prevent transmission of the virus.

Thank you so much. Im relieved.
Since my mom always told me if I touch my cold sore and then eyes or genital area I will transmit it in that place I touch.
I was in fact worried that the viruses could jump from my mouth to her mouth then to my genitals.

My Gf has hsv1 orally too coz she has previous episode of cold sore on her lips. But no, at the moment of oral sex they doesn't have any active cold sore on lips.

So basically for general safety, if one of us has cold sore on lips shouldn't perform oral sex without condoms or some oral barrier, while the other who does not have at the moment any active cold sore can perform oral sex even if we're kissing each other before and after oral.

If one of you has an active cold sore present, the one with a cold sore shouldn't be performing oral sex on the other until it's completely healed and the skin is back to normal.

Since you both have it orally, you can kiss all you want when you have cold sores :)

Thank you so very much for the answer.

Can I ask just the LAST 2 question so all my doubt can be wiped away.

1. when is the time window of dangerous for transmission.
I mean sometimes happens to me that I perform oral sex and I didn't notice (or there weren't any symptoms) and just after some time (and hour or more) I notice the symptims of cold sore. So at the very beginning when is hard to say if it can be a cold sore or not I can't know it and if I perform oral sex I panick every time after.

2. if I've a cold sore and I kiss my gf that is hsv-1 positive but hasn't cold sore I will cause her a cold sore in the next days? just Like if I touch my cold sore and then I touch my lips in another place. coz I never understand if transmission is from cold sore to form another cold sore in another area or another person or just cold sore to nervous system.

Thank you again for your patience. (that is LAST promise) :D

No, you having a cold sore won't trigger one to appear in your gf.

If you don't even know you are getting a cold sore and then a few hours after performing oral sex you start feeling like one is about to start, odds are that it was the friction of performing oral that triggered those sensations. If you have a hsv1 negative partner, consider using barrier protection when you perform oral to protect them.  Your current partner has significant protection against contracting hsv1 genitally from you performing oral but just use common sense and when you have an active cold sore or feel like one might be coming on, don't perform oral to err on the side of caution.
